Local Missions

As disciples of Jesus, we are committed to serving our community in His name. Our downtown location, along with our fellowship hall and full kitchen, allow us to provide services to the less fortunate in our community. Our Soup Kitchen provides meals every Tuesday and on special occasions to the hungry of our area. Our kitchen and Fellowship Hall are large enough to give us the opportunity to host Open Doors (a shelter of last resort for people who have nowhere else to stay) three times during the winter. We have numerous members of our congregation that volunteer for the Salvation Army, People Helping People and the Free Clinic, for example. Our congregation makes these efforts possible with their time and treasure. Join First Presbyterian Church by displaying a heart for our community in Harrisonburg Virginia missions.

If you’d like to see how we do this in action, visit our blog archives here and read what we’ve accomplished in our community as a congregation. If you’re interested in helping the community as well, get in contact with our team or visit us this Sunday to see current opportunities.
