Next week, Wednesday, Feb. 17, is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. Lent is a penitential season of preparation that helps us remember and live out the reality of both our Lord’s death and His resurrection.

This year for Lent we are offering a sermon series titled “Returning and Rebuilding – A Lenten Journey with Ezra and Nehemiah.” The series will look at some of the spiritual disciplines evidenced in Ezra and Nehemiah and how we can incorporate those disciplines into our lives today.

It all kicks off with Ash Wednesday, and I’m really excited about our plans. We are going to set up a number of interactive stations in Showker Hall to help people experience and enter into Ash Wednesday and Lent. These stations will help us repent and then commit to some Lenten disciplines. The stations will be open for individuals, families and COVID-safe groups from 4 to 6 p.m. (Masks and social distancing are required.) We estimate that a group moving at a leisurely pace could go through the whole experience in 20 minutes or less. We hope you will join us and let this kick off a personal Lenten return and rebuild in your own life.
