John 20:18-20

Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

Reflect

This passage of Scripture tells us something we all need to hear: Jesus gives you His peace. Life can be chaotic, everyone always has something they need to do. We spend less time with God to make time for worldly things that we constantly worry about. But when God sees that you love Him, He comes to you and abides in you! The King James Version describes the Holy Spirit in this passage as “The Comforter.” When God abides in you, he comforts you and gives you peace, and reminds you of everything He has said. So do not let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. God is with you.

Pray

Father, we get too caught up in the world. Forgive us for when we do not follow your word. Thank you for giving us everything we need and so much more, so much that we cannot even contain it, gifts greater than the world gives. Help us to be neither troubled nor afraid. Amen.
