I have become convinced that fear dominates so much of our lives.

We fear rejection by God and others. We fear loss and the storms of life. We fear the future and change. We fear persecution, suffering and death.

All these fears affect nearly every aspect of how we live. We choose our clothes for the day based on fear. Our diets can be fear based. How we spend or save is influenced by fear.

Now, there is a difference between prudence and fear, but we seem to have crossed the line. There is so much anxiety in the world right now, so much fear, but God’s repeated word to all this is “Fear Not!” Over 365 times in the Bible, once for every day of the year, we are told to “Fear Not!”

God did not give us a spirit of fear. Yet heading the call to fear not is easier said than done, and so we are going to take the season of Lent and dig into God’s word so we can see why we need not fear and how we can live the fearless life Jesus came to give us. I hope you can join us.
