First Presbyterian Church will mark Holy Week, the week when we remember Christ’s last week before his crucifixion and resurrection, with several events.

Palm Sunday (April 9)

Palm Sunday is the day that we remember Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem a week before his death (Matthew 21).

  • Worship at 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., with Sunday school at 10:15 a.m.
  • Sermon: “The Rocks Cry Out”

Passover Seder Dinner (April 12)

We will host “Messiah in the Passover,” a seder meal that will re-enact the Passover meal and will include references to how the meal’s symbols take on fuller meaning with Jesus’ redemption.

  • Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. in Showker Hall. Childcare is provided.

Maundy Thursday (April 13)

Maundy Thursday is when we remember the final meal Jesus held with his disciples in the Upper Room. At that time, he instituted the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 26).

  • Worship will be held at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.
  • Communion will be served.

Good Friday (April 14)

The Annual Good Friday Breakfast will be held in Showker Hall at 6:45 a.m. All men of all ages are invited. Rev. Billy Craig will be the speaker. A donation of $5 is suggested to help cover the costs of the breakfast.

Community Easter Egg Hunt (April 15)

Our annual Easter Egg hunt on Court Square will begin with everyone meeting in the church parking lot at 10 a.m. Bring a basket and invite a friend.

Easter Sunday (April 16)

“He is risen!” Celebrate the resurrection of Jesus at one of our worship services.

  • 9:00 a.m. praise service
  • 11:15 a.m. traditional service
  • Sermon: “Go and Tell”
  • No Sunday school
