As we continue our sermon series, “While

We Wait,” we want to give you practical takeaways. For Pastor Jon’s sermon about clothing those in need, we suggest two practical takeaways right here in our community.

Underclothing for the homeless

We are partnering with Open Doors to accomplish this. Here is what is needed:

  • Women [M] – 1 medium sports bra, and 1 medium (6/7) pair of underpants, and 1 (size 4-11) pair of women’s athletic ankle socks
  • Women [L] – 1 large sports bra, and 1 large (9/10) pair of underpants, and 1 (size 4-11) pair of women’s athletic ankle socks
  • Men [M/L] – 1 large or XL undershirt, and 1 medium or large pair of boxers/boxer briefs, and 1 (size 9-13) pair of men’s athletic ankle socks
  • Men [XL] – 1 large or XL undershirt, and 1 XL pair of boxers/boxer briefs, and 1 (size 9-13) pair of men’s athletic ankle socks
  • After purchasing these items, please put the sets in individual gallon size zip bags, and then label them with “Woman-M” or “Woman-L” OR “Man-M/L” or “Man-XL” on it.

Drop off your bag(s) at Open Doors’ current shelter (Godwin Hall at JMU, 261 Bluestone Drive), and put them in the Open Doors tote container between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. If you have questions, call 540-271-1701

Donate to a clothes closet

Since our local Clothes Closets are currently closed due to COVID-19, please put your collected clothes in a box or bag and store somewhere so that once restrictions are lifted, you can donate them to one of these groups.
