God is good, and he has provided!

During the pandemic, God has blessed us in so many ways with talented covenant partners, with funds and with few direct illnesses. The initiatives the pastors, session and staff have taken to keep everyone safe is commendable. And God has provided for our needs.Consider: As of September, giving has totaled $750,587 which is $25,744 ahead of September 2019. This has allowed us to keep our staff on the payroll and to expand our ability to share our worship services with even more people. We did not seek any government loans or subsides. For the first time in many years we will cover all expenses with giving.

We did all of this because of the generosity of our covenant partners.

Now, we come to stewardship season as we look to 2021. Our theme this year: What is Good? We find the answer in Micah 6:8: We are to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God. Throughout this season, we want to highlight what God has done through First Pres in these three areas.

Act Justly

Our global missions work spans the globe and has promoted justice in many places, particularly in a year when a pandemic caused so many challenges for those already living in poor or oppressive nations.

Love Mercy

Through our care ministries, we have reached out with hope to those who are grieving. We have cared for those isolated the pandemic’s quarantine. We have welcomed newcomers through hospitality. And we have started a new group that is mobilized to walk alongside anyone facing a difficult season in life.

Walk Humbly

When we worship, we walk humbly with God. For several months in 2020, that meant finding ways to join together while being apart due to pandemic restrictions. It has also meant finding ways to harness technology to connect to those who still can’t join us in person, and to make our livestream and website a “front door” for our church.

That’s just a bit of your 2020 support in action. Now, as we look to 2021, pray about and consider how you can be part of supporting the mission and vision of our church.

Commitment Sunday is November 15. You will receive a pledge card in the mail that you can send in, or you can make a pledge using this secure online form.
