First Presbyterian is very mission-minded, providing individuals and groups with the means and motivation to share the gospel and reach the world for Christ.
We currently support 16 missionaries worldwide, with whom we keep in close contact and who come and share with the congregation whenever possible about the work God is doing. We also encourage our church members to participate in mission trips and share about their experiences. Both our youth and adults have gone on short-term mission trips and come back on fire for Christ and excited to share about what they learned.
Our church has a church-to-church partnership with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus in Jimma, Ethiopia, which is located in a region that is about 90% Muslim. For over 12 years we have been sharing prayers, resources and visits between the two congregations. It is exciting to share in God’s work there!
First Presbyterian also helps support the printing and distribution of low-cost Bible training materials worldwide through Manna Publications, a company founded by one of our church members. We strive to do all we can to reach the world for Christ. You can read our most up-to-date opportunities and actions concerning global missions by reading our blog archive here.
